ECU College Republicans did nothing illegal, but were "unethical" when turning away people who wanted to register with another party, a state elections investigator said Friday.

At least two East Carolina University students said they were told to go elsewhere to register unaffiliated or Democrat when they approached a Republican-sponsored voter registration table during a campus drive this week.

Marshall Tutor, an investigator with the State Board of Elections, said the action did not violate state law.

However, "It is unethical," he said.

Unethical but legal. Sound like a perfect description to me. You can't really blame these college kids, though. Look at their role model.
