Bush's late promise to the left
President Bush:
"A new term is a new opportunity to reach out to the whole nation," he said in a victory speech in Washington. "When we come together and work together, there is no limit to the greatness of America."
Speaking directly to supporters of Kerry, Bush said: "I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can to deserve your trust."
The problem is, Mr. President, you've had four years to do that already. And you haven't done it. Why should I trust you now, knowing what you propose for all of us?
Sadly, you don't need us to come together. You can just continue to ram it down my throat, and there is nothing you have done that says you won't.
Too little too late.
