Minnesota exit polls favor Kerry
I wasn't sure that newspapers could report this sort of thing, but I guess the Star Tribune thinks its okay. Here's analysis of earle exit polling data:
Two-thirds of voters going to the polls in Minnesota this morning were married, yet split between Kerry and Bush. But those who don't wear wedding rings were voting strongly for Kerry.
In exit polls conducted among 1,069 voters around the state this morning, about two in five identified themselves as Democrats. About a third called themselves Republicans and a little more than one-quarter said they were independents.
The exit poll is conducted by the National Election Pool, a consortium of national news organizations, for the Star Tribune.
Nearly all the self-identified conservatives in the group said they had voted for Republican standard-bearer President Bush, with almost nine in ten of the liberal voters reporting they had cast a ballot for Democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry. A majority of independents, a key voting block for Kerry, were backing the Massachusetts senator in this morning's voting.
Among the roughly two in five who chose the "moderate" philosophical tag, Kerry was a 3-to-2 favorite.
Very nice numbers indeed, if they can hold up. Keep the vote strong, people!
