“This administration is populated by people who’ve spent their careers bashing government. They’re not just small-government conservatives—they’re Grover Norquist, strangle-it-in-the-bathtub conservatives. It’s a cognitive disconnect for them to be able to do something well in an arena that they have so derided and reviled all these years.”

More proof Republicans irrationally hate Bill Clinton

Zogby did some polling to see how George W. Bush would do against past presidents since Carter, and he loses every time.

But Jimmy Carter, the man some on the right consider "on the other side" in the war on terror, garners a higher percentage of those head to head matchups than Bill Clinton, the man who ushered in years of prosperity. I guess it shows both an abject hatred of Bill Clinton and that (thankfully) the Powerline boys don't have the influence they thought they did.

Also astounding? Even with 40% approval ratings, Bush would beat Kerry 48-47. It's within the margin of error and all that, but I guess it shows just how well the GOP smear machine worked on the Democratic nominee. It should also give Kerry something to think about as he ponders re-election.
