“This administration is populated by people who’ve spent their careers bashing government. They’re not just small-government conservatives—they’re Grover Norquist, strangle-it-in-the-bathtub conservatives. It’s a cognitive disconnect for them to be able to do something well in an arena that they have so derided and reviled all these years.”

Evolution!

Kansas has decided to commemorate the 80 year anniversary of John Scopes being arrested for teaching evolution by putting evolution itself on trial:
School science classes are teaching children that life evolved naturally and randomly, Harris said, arguing that this was in conflict with Biblical teachings that God created life.

"They are offering an answer that may be in conflict with religious views," Harris said in opening the debate. "Part of our overall goal is to remove the bias against religion that is currently in schools. This is a scientific controversy that has powerful religious implications."

The only bias is against things unscientific - and that's the way it should be. The fact the religion falls into that category means that religious ideas such as creationism should not be taught in a school science class. It's that simple.

If you want to keep your kids away from evolution, enroll them in a private religious school. Hire a priest, rabbi, or shaman to home school them. Give them nothing to read but religious texts pertinent to your beliefs. Protect them from all learning that may conflict with your religion, because that is the only way to keep them strong. Do not let anything or anyone challenge your children. That fate of the entire theological world depends on it.
