Please send armor
It's still going on:
A Kentucky National Guardsman's complaint that a poorly armored truck may have contributed to the death of a fellow soldier touched off a firestorm in Congress on Thursday, with several lawmakers calling on the Pentagon to investigate.
Staff Sgt. Brad Rogers of Hebron, a 16-year Guard veteran, said in an e-mail to family and friends in Kentucky that he was concerned about the safety of his unit and believed that the deceased soldier would still be alive if his military truck had been fitted with protective glass.
Rogers' complaint prompted U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, to ask the Department of Defense to investigate.
Other members of Congress said Rogers' letter is particularly disturbing because it shows that soldiers who put their lives on the line still don't have the protection they need and deserve.
Even after two years, we still don't have the army we wish or want to have Iraq.
