“This administration is populated by people who’ve spent their careers bashing government. They’re not just small-government conservatives—they’re Grover Norquist, strangle-it-in-the-bathtub conservatives. It’s a cognitive disconnect for them to be able to do something well in an arena that they have so derided and reviled all these years.”

Moral values and seat belts

Roll out the "Seatblets Don't Save Lives Campaign" now in Indiana. A letter to the editor reminds us and all red staters the true danger in a traffic collison:
This pertains to the article "Buckle up; it's the law, and it prevents tragedy."

In your article, you failed to mention one important fact. If your time here on Earth is over, and G-d wants to take you home - you will die anyway. If it's your time to go, G-d will take you. You can use any kind of precaution you want, such as seat belts or car seats, and they won't save you if your time is up.

For example, Mr. Bollinger was wearing a seat belt and died, but the 6-year-old Schwartz girl wasn't wearing a seat belt and survived. She even got ejected from the vehicle.

That clearly proves it doesn't matter what precaution you are wearing if your time is up.

My sympathy goes to the Schwartz, Bollinger and Olwine families. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Maybe this twisted logic could be applied to the Conservative Christian GOP attempts to privatize Social as well. If the higher power wants you to retire comfortably, he will guide your hand in the proper investments. If your privatization portfolio fails and you die homeless and hungry, it was just your time.
