Down in Carolina
Ah, the politics of inclusion. Jim DeMint, running for the Senate in South Carolina earlier this week said homosexuals weren't fit to teach his children, regardless of their actual teaching ability. Now he's upped the ante:
Jim DeMint, a Republican third-term congressman running for the Senate, made the comment about homosexuals during a debate Sunday with his Democratic opponent. Some gay organizations immediately demanded an apology.
On Tuesday, in an interview with the Aiken Standard, DeMint said: "I would have given the same answer when asked if a single woman, who was pregnant and living with her boyfriend, should be hired to teach my third-grade children.
Nice huh? Here's a link to his opponent, Inez Tenenbaum. She seems more concerned about people's ability to do their work rather than their personal beliefs. If that's the kind of person you'd rather have in the Senate, contribute to her campaign, and support someone who isn't a homophobic bigot.
