“This administration is populated by people who’ve spent their careers bashing government. They’re not just small-government conservatives—they’re Grover Norquist, strangle-it-in-the-bathtub conservatives. It’s a cognitive disconnect for them to be able to do something well in an arena that they have so derided and reviled all these years.”

Dick Cheney, a walking contradiction

Dick Cheney, America's scary gradfather, continues to try and convince America that Iraq was the crossroads where terrorists and WMDs would meet. The problem with this claim of course, is that we have alread seen the map. Even Cheney himself has admitted that Iraq had no WMDs at the time of our invasion, brushing aside the news contained in the Duelfer report with a brisk "We already knew that."

The question, then, is how Dick Cheney can continue to make these claims we he has already admitted they are false. And more importantly, why do news agencies continue to report Cheney statements without reminding the public that he is contradicting himself?

Ted Koppel once told Jon Stewart that when a man running for President says something, it is news that they must cover. I would think the Vice President of the United States basically lying to the America people would be a story they must tell as well.
