Ohio GOP sued
Keep in mind these things are very hard to prove. Not only do you have to show that people who donated money to the Ohio GOP received no bid contracts(easy to prove), you also have to show that this was implicit at the time of donation(hard to prove). Either way, Timothy Hagan (who was defeated by Robert Taft in 2002) has filed a suit claiming the Ohio GOP traded promises of non-bid contracts for campaign contributions:
The Ohio Republican Party has raised millions of dollars by trading unbid contracts for campaign contributions, according to the lawsuit filed Monday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court by Hagan and Gregory D. Coleridge of the Northeast Ohio American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker-related social-action group in Akron.
The lawsuit said Ohio taxpayers, voters and candidates have been harmed by the alleged practice.
The lawsuit asked for restitution for any illegal political contributions made in violation of Ohio's competitive-bidding laws and sought the appointment of a monitor to oversee compliance.
