“This administration is populated by people who’ve spent their careers bashing government. They’re not just small-government conservatives—they’re Grover Norquist, strangle-it-in-the-bathtub conservatives. It’s a cognitive disconnect for them to be able to do something well in an arena that they have so derided and reviled all these years.”

AZ Sen Jon Kyl: Who needs New Orleans?

Add Arizona Senator Jon Kyl to the list of those who question whether we should rebuild New Orleans.

Don't forget to blame the poor who choose to eat rather than purchase expensive flood insurance:
It's a great question, Barry. You need to explore it. Because the question is if people know year after year after year a natural disaster occurs in a particular place and people continue to build there and want to live there, should they bear the responsibility of buying insurance or should everyone else bear the responsibility?

That is a great question. Perhaps we should go back even further, however, and try to figure out why the poor and elderly can't afford both food and insurance? How about why grandma and grandpa would have to choose between their medication and flood protection?

Heck, maybe if the poor all pitched in and helped, they could have paid for stronger levees, too.
