Bush like clone in 2008!
Jerry Falwell decides the country needs a new group to push his moral choices off on the rest of the country.
Falwell, a religious broadcaster based in Lynchburg, Va., said the Faith and Values Coalition will be a "21st century resurrection of the Moral Majority," the organization he founded in 1979.
Falwell said he would serve as the coalition's national chairman for four years.
He added that the new group's mission would be to lobby for anti-abortion conservatives to fill openings on the Supreme Court and lower courts, a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, and the election of another "George Bush-type" conservative in 2008.
Meanwhile, a well known Republican consultant says this strategy has divided the country like never before and it may come back to haunt his party:
"From now on, anyone who belongs to the Republican Party will automatically find himself in the same group as the opponents of abortion, and anyone who supports abortion will automatically be labeled a Democrat," Mr. Finkelstein told Maariv, a daily, in an interview published on Friday. "The political center has disappeared, and the Republican Party has become the party of the Christian right more so than in any other period in modern history."
(snip)
"Bush's strategy secures the power of the American Christian right not only for this term," Mr. Finkelstein said in the interview. "In fact, it secures its ability to choose the next Republican president."
So for those of you think we will be done with George Bush in 2008, it seems like bad news all around.
