Another potentially embarassing candidate
I'm sure that the Democrats have their embarassing candidates, too. I just haven't come across any of them yet.
First I told you about eugenist James Hart winning the Republican primary and representing the GOP in a race for the U.S. House of Representatives. Now meet Will Baker, a Republican candidate for state Auditor in Washington:
Baker is described by his hometown paper, The News Tribune, as "a roadside flower salesman with a history of annoying elected officials." Since 1992, he's been booked into the Pierce County Jail 19 times, said Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Detective Ed Troyer.
(snip)
[Tacoma City Councilman Kevin] Phelps said Baker is a former exotic dancer, an ardent conspiracy theorist and an intelligent person "who has the ability to put a train of thoughts together — they're just not real factual."
(snip)
In addition to saying he had been arrested several times, Baker's statement alleges an FBI cover-up of Tacoma Police Chief David Brame's suicide and slaying of his wife, Crystal.
Party officals filed for the guy, then soon learned of his background. They are now trying to figure out a way to get him "unfiled." Republican Party Chairman Chris now admits the GOP is "stuck with him."
"It's somewhat embarrassing. We should have been more thorough in checking him out."
