Everything is bigger in Texas
Including enviromental violations:
The Environmental Integrity Project, an environmental law enforcement advocacy nonprofit group, said Tuesday that it has asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation of energy distributor American Electric Power based on allegations by a former employee of extensive violations of the Clean Air Act over multiple years, beginning as early as 1990, at three east Texas plants.
Bill Wilson, the former air quality engineer for American Electric's power plants in Texas operated by the Southwestern Electric Power Co., claims the company repeatedly and illegally burned chemical waste in utility boilers, violating emission limits for smog-forming chemicals, particulate matter, and carbon monoxide, and failed to satisfy the New Source Review rules, which may favor polluters, adopted by the Bush Administration.
Wow. Bush is not the staunchest of enviromentalists, so when a company violates even his standards, you have to know it is bad. And the claim is they did it on purpose.
