Speaking of lipstick on a pig...
"We knew our policies were boosting the economy, and now we know that job creation was even better than we had thought," said House Budget Chairman Jim Nussle, R-Iowa.
This in an article about how job growth in January was less than expected and far, far less than the 300,000 jobs a month that Bush promised his tax cuts would create.
Who, exactly, is out of touch with America?
The unemployment rate fell largely because the labor force participation rate sank by a tenth to 65.8 percent.
"The economy is slowing at an alarming pace," said Peter Morici, a business professor at the University of Maryland. "The primary culprit is the growing trade deficit, which is now more than 5 percent of GDP. This is reflected in the declining fortunes of manufacturing."
Unempployment dropped because people are giving up on finding jobs and aren't part of the "labor force" anymore. That's one way to solve the problem, I guess.
