“This administration is populated by people who’ve spent their careers bashing government. They’re not just small-government conservatives—they’re Grover Norquist, strangle-it-in-the-bathtub conservatives. It’s a cognitive disconnect for them to be able to do something well in an arena that they have so derided and reviled all these years.”

Dreaming of health care

As I went to sleep last night, I thought that I should write a letter to John Kerry. After the boring opening introduction, I would tell him that if he really believes in what he campaigned on, especially the health care for kids program, he should propose it as a bill in the Senate. This would show the public that he was sincere in his pledge to fight for what he believed, help distract the Senate from more discriminatory amendments, and could serve as a rally point if he was serious about running again in 2008. Most importantly, it would show the country the kind of morals that Democrats possess; helping those in need, and truly leaving no child behind.

Looks like me dream letter was a success. Kerry today released a statement pledging to fight for health care for children on the first day of the new Senate. Even better, he wants your help. Head here and sign the petition. You could be a part of the biggest help to children in America in years.
