You say tomato, I say flip flop
United Press International reports that President Bush will no doubt flip-flop again, now agreeing that the new national intelligence director recommended by the 9/11 commission should have the budgetary and hire-fire authority that the commission wanted.
This would be a reversal of the President's initial stance which proposed the director have no control over budgets or the hiring and firing of others.
The UPI calls it a "U-turn." What ever you call it, it still smells like another Bush flip-flop to me.
You may wonder with all the Bush flip-flop stories I write what I think about flip-flopping in general. Honestly, I think Bush got it right the second time, and whatever caused him to change his mind I am thankful for. I write these stories more to show that Bush can change his mind too, and this effort to paint him as steadfast in his beliefs is a big country crock tub of crap.
Whether Bush's initial statement was made to blunt the thrust of Kerry calling for instant enactment of the 9/11 commission proposals, or this statement was made to deflect cries of a "puppet" master this change is a pure political gainer with a half twist. While he hit all the technical aspects, I think the judges will wait until he lands to release a final score.
