2100 voters could sway the election
Keep an eye on the margin of victory in Florida for either side and the efforts to fix up this mess:
A report in The Miami Herald this morning finds that more than 2,100 Florida voters could be wrongly barred from voting this fall because elections officials included them on a list of felons potentially ineligible to vote.
A state Division of Elections database lists more than 47,000 people the department says may be ineligible to vote because of felony records. The state wants local elections offices to check the list and remove felons from the rolls.
But the newspaper found that more than 2100, many of them black Democrats, should not be on the list because their rights to vote were restored through the state's clemency process.
I must admit that 5% was a bit less thn I thought it would be, but in a state that was decided on 527 votes, it's easy to see how this could make a difference.
